MUSE NAME: Kim Taehyung

TWITTER: [twitter.com profile] victoryposes

AGE: 22
YEAR: Junior
RESIDENCE: Bellarmino Hall

HISTORY: Taehyung's life is exactly the way most people would imagine life would be like as a son of a diplomat: rolling in money, never want for anything, able to get away with everything. If he had anything to say about it, he'd prove people wrong, except people around him had always treated him differently by default. His father's job involved moving to a different continent every three years or so, resulting in Taehyung always being the new kid that people either wanted to bully or treat like glass. Either way, he was always different.

It didn’t help that he appeared to have a different thought process than most. This was apparent when he would mumble random words to himself in different languages, or introduce vampires and werewolves in a conversation about the world economy, or talk about space while trying to comfort a sad friend. That being said, being a weirdo won him a number of friends. The people he didn’t annoy found him funny. It was just too bad that he often had to leave any friends he made.

So when the time for university applications came, Taehyung was determined to stay in one place for a prolonged period and aim to make lasting relationships. The challenge was finding a university that was willing to take Taehyung — the boy did not have stellar grades. But his father had a lot of power and money, enough to pay Sogang University to reserve Taehyung a slot. It was far from NYC, but his parents supported the idea of sending him to Seoul. They figured that if he's to follow in his father's footsteps, he might as well familiarize himself with South Korean culture. Living on his own would teach him to be independent, too. At least, as independent as a guy with bodyguards could be.

PERSONALITY: Now that he's actually stayed in a country for more than three years, he's learned to be warm and friendly. But he's spoiled to the core, and he’s not aware of it most of the time. He's been unintentionally rude and condescending (that means he’s talked down to people) once or twice. But he’s got a heart of gold, and he really does want to make friends.

Most people would find him strange, and he won’t deny that he is. He tries to stay on topic now, but he’s still prone to introducing the most random, bizarre ideas into conversations. It’s not uncommon to catch him talking to himself. His monologues, when uninterrupted, can last up to an hour. Topics last about 10 seconds each.

Despite the whole weirdo and clueless vibe he gives off, Taehyung is actually well-informed of current events and social issues. He doesn't really get a chance to talk about it outside of the debate team, but he does genuinely want to talk about today's problems and change the world.

RANDOM FACTS:
  • Family: diplomat father, former journalist mother, younger sister, younger brother
  • Grew up surrounded by people who couldn't pronounce his name, so he nicknamed himself V (for the hand gesture he always makes when he poses in photos). He still responds to V for whoever wants to call him that.
  • Speaks fluent Korean and English, conversational Japanese, and barely basic Mandarin. He understands Spanish and French but speaks neither.
  • Hobbies include photography, illustration, video games, and cooking.
  • But if you want to get him talking, other than social issues, current events, and the artistry in sculpting pubic hair, anime is his favorite topic.
  • Lives with a bodyguard. That might be the only reason no one has tried to punch his face in.
